This is somewhat surprising, if annoyingly vague. Many may have read the Daily Star's bullshit
story on George Lucas' supposed "prequel to the prequels" - a Yoda-centric movie about the green one battling Sith in his youth. Although there's no doubt in my mind that that particular story is complete horse shit, perhaps the concept of more Star Wars movies as a whole ain't as far off the mark as we thought.
TheForce.net is now reporting that Lucas hasn't ruled out another movie further down the line, in stark contrast to his recent claims of going back to more gritty and edgy films with Star Wars done and dusted. Something set around the Knights of the Old Republic era seems to be the popular concept being shopped around. Check the link for more.
Personally, I dunno about this. It not only sounds a wee bit fishy, but even if true, I'd hate for Star Wars to become completely and utterly diluted. Bare in mind we have another Clone Wars animated show on the way, along with a second live action TV show supposedly a year off too.
Then again, Revenge of the Sith has clocked in $200m in just over one week, so LucasFilm would be somewhat crazy to throw away a money maker like that. What I
would be bloody interested in, is the idea of other director's taking up the reigns on the series, if indeed this all goes ahead. A Spielberg Star Wars movie would be amazing, sure, but I'm thinking more along the lines of Ridley Scott, James Cameron, Christopher Nolan, etc. A more adult and darker take on the series recently hinted at in Sith.
I wouldn't hold your breath for any of this at the end of the day, but the various murmurings are certainly interesting, if nothing else. Something to keep in the back of your mind for the next few years perhaps...
