Sam & Max Will Return!
Posted by Diggler - 20/11/2005 13:56

This isn't particularly cutting edge news, but for those who haven't heard in recent weeks, PC gamers' favourite crime fighting dog 'n' rabbit duo known as Sam and Max, are returning for a brand new adventure in 2006.

Actually, make that plural - this won't be a single game, but a series of "episodes" released over an extended period of time via the interweb. It also has nothing to do with the shitcanned "Freelance Police" game that never saw the light of day.

Sam & Max Hit the Road was one of the many LucasArts classics released back during their golden era of the early '90s, alongside Day of the Tentacle, Fate of Atlantis and the Monkey Island series. While Tentacle was always my personal fave of the bunch, I loved Sam & Max to bits too, and still fire it up via a little PSP emulation to this very day.

Sadly LucasArts deem point and click adventures non-profitable these days, a bitter and cynical view that I'm sure most PC owners would disagree with. The only reason we're getting this sequel is due to Telltale Games, a relatively new company comprised of numerous former LucasArts employees who've thankfully squared some kinda deal with the devil in order to bring this game out on their own.

You can read up on this and a whole lot more via the Telltale web site anyway, where you'll also find a newsletter choc full of the latest info. Let the good times return!
