To see Shadow of the Colossus is to
love it. Once you actually play the sucker though, all-out obsession blooms. You wanna spend every hour that you're at home playing it, every minute you're at work talking about it, and every second you're asleep dreaming about it. These dreams usually involve waking up covered in a sticky white mayonnaise.
Shadow is one of those rare games you just wanna yell from the rooftops about. I don't have a rooftop handy, but I do have a web site. Much like the game itself though, I thought I'd do something different to show my love for this thing; I decided to video tape myself viciously murdering each of the game's 16 bosses. Here's part one of that collection, featuring the first four battles in their entirety.
For those who own the sucker and are having trouble with one or two, these clips will be a means to an end - a video walkthrough, if you will. But the real reason I'm doing this is simply to show those of you who
don't own a PS2 just what a work of utter brilliance this game is. You won't get to play it, but at least you'll get to see it in action. Albeit, horrendously poor quality shaky cam DV action that doesn't even vaguely approach doing the thing justice...
As for these first four? They barely scratch the surface of what's in store later on in the game (although I still maintain #3 is one of the best of the lot). As a result, it may take the all encompassing brilliance of #5 or #13 - due in a few weeks time - to really appreciate just why I regularly jizz in the eye of this beautiful title.
That all said, every single one is worthy of a ganders, so dive on in and get started. Shadow of the Colossus is a marvel...now come and see why.
