Hi boys and girls. Just a few bits and bobs regarding the site, as well as the lack of updates around here lately.
Traditionally in the games industry, November is considered to be the gold mine period; all the big games of all the big systems are pretty much shoehorned into the shops around here, just in time for the Christmas rush. Your GTAs, your Halos, your Half-Lifes - trace back pretty much all these big arse releases and you'll most likely see they shipped a month or two before the new year.
The down side to all this is the resulting wasteland from January to March of absolutely nothing. Zilch. It seems the games industry blows its load pretty damn hard at Christmas, and needs a good long while before it's good to go again. And that's pretty much why you've not seen a huge amount of activity here on the site, and more importantly, haven't been playing a huge amount of exciting new games lately either.
Thankfully, March is when this dry spell tends to moisten up somewhat, and things slowly begin ramping up again. New games start appearing on the shelves, and developers start revving up for May's E3 trade show...otherwise known as video gaming heaven. You're already starting to see this with kick arse recent releases like
GRAW, Fight Night 3 and next week's Oblivion. It seems March may in fact be the new November. What I'm saying is, expect a heck of a lot more activity around here over the coming weeks and months.
In addition, those who've asked where the shit the rest of the Shadow of the Colossus
walkthrough is, relax, take a deep breath and go squirt one out, 'cos I assure you it's on its way. In fact, now I know people are actually watching that damn thing, a few other games may soon join it. Some additional and much more interesting "multimedia" features may also appear on the site at some point over the next month or so too, depending on if and how they pan out. More on this soon.
In the meantime, there are some interesting new links, forums and podcasts showing up down the right hand column on the site now, all of which I eagerly and possibly angrily ask you to check out, for your own good if nothing else. These are my (regularly updated) picks of the litter out there in internet land for all things gaming, and beyond. Give 'em a whirl.
I should also mention, some may have noticed a bit of a shift in the site's content over the past year or so. While this place is still essentially just my blog of what I'm playing each week, I've cut down completely on posting the latest gaming news, announcements and downloads. Instead, all that stuff is getting whacked up in the
forum, just 'cos, well, it's a fuck load easier and I'm hella lazy. Plus, hey, you get to chime in with your own thoughts and post some reactions. Please sign up and pop on over there if you ain't yet, even if you lurk in the shadows.
Expect a lot more in the way of write-ups and ramblings over the coming weeks as the aforementioned new year's wasteland disappears in favour of the spring rebirth. 2006 is finally kicking in guys, and it's gonna get ridiculous.
