It's common knowledge that LucasFilm are in the planning stages of a Star Wars TV show, to be produced after the last film is released next year. In an interesting twist though, the name that's being shopped around as to who will be spearheading this project, is non other than Kevin Smith aka Silent Bob.
Kevin's directed and starred in a bunch of hilarious movies over the last 10 years, including Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, and more recently, Jersey Girl. Although hardly high-budget sci-fi epics, every film has been choc-full of Star Wars references, an obvious hint towards his immense fandom for the saga.
With an uber-fan taking directing duties, not to mention rumours of Mark Hamil providing cameos, this has the potential for brilliance. Still, these are merely whispers at the moment, so take it all with a grain of salt. In the meantime, you can read the full story below;

In other news, Kevin is due for a Q&A session in London come March. Stick to Smith fan-site News Askew for more info and ticket ordering over the next few months. I caught his last visit and it was possibly the funniest night of my life.
