Play Anarchy Online For Free!

In one of the most surprising moves of the year, Funcom have announced players can now download and play their long-running sci-fi MMORPG Anarchy Online 100% for free.
There is some minor small print first off, but nothing to get too worried about. First of all you have to register before January 15th. Secondly, this free period will stop after a year. Lastly, none of the three expansion packs are included, and in fact if you want to buy any of them, your account will start to incur monthly fees (sneaky).
But still, such a hugely successful MMORPG for free? And it doesn't even need a credit card for "registration" purposes? One doesn't see this kinda generosity every day.
I tried Anarchy Online recently myself, and despite the fact I'm always bitching about the lack of sci-fi RPGs, didn't stick around in the long-run. It feels a little dated these days, so the graphics whores among you might be a little put back for that reason. When the price is right though, there's really no reason to skip it.
The game itself includes 12 different professions, 80 character skills, guild support, instanced dungeons, player housing, PvP combat, futuristic vehicles, and an absolutely massive pre-established community.
