Halo the Movie in Production

A few days ago, Variety reported that Microsoft have put events into motion to bring the Halo series to the big screen. The name being yelled around right now as to who will be adapting the games to movie form is Alex Garland, writer of The Beach and 28 Days Later.
Personally I had no huge problems with The Beach, but felt 28 Days Later rapidly deteriorated from its stunning intro into complete and utter blood-stained dog shit by the end. Coupled with video gaming's long-standing tradition of abysmal movie incarnations, I don't hold out much hope for this one.
Shame too, 'cos there'd be nothing cooler than an 18-rated Aliens-style Master Chief massacre on the big screen...
